Milne Bay is one of the most popular locations for diving in Papua New Guinea and offers a tremendous selection of things to see.
Just off the beach at Gonu Gonu Bara Bara island, near the former provincial capital of Samarai island, is one of the best places in Papua New Guinea to experience the magnificant manta ray.
I had been in the water with mantas before, but usually snorkeling and never near enough to get a really good shot, so being so close to so many of these wonderful creatures was an experience to treasure!
I was luck enough to spend two days diving this terrific site back in 2002, not that long after the site had been found and this is the original article that I had to get published on the location.
